Easy DIY Activated Charcoal Soap Bars
I enjoy making melt and pour soap and these activated charcoal soap bars may be my new favorite. They are super easy to make and offer amazing benefits to your skin.
With the moisturizing properties of the goat’s milk soap base, the detoxifying power of the activated charcoal and the antibacterial benefits of the tea tree oil, these soap bars will leave your skin feeling clean, soft and refreshed.

Step 1 – Prepare the soap base
Cut the soap base into small cubes for easy melting. If you purchase the same Goat’s milk melt and pour soap base that I use, cut one brick at a time. Then place the chunks into a Microwave safe bowl. I like to use a 4 cup pyrex measuring cup because it has a handle and spout that makes it easy to pour the melted soap into the molds.

Step 2 – Melt the soap base in the microwave
Now melt the soap base in the microwave. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time and then stir in between. I typically need anywhere from 90 seconds to 2 minutes total depending on the power of the microwave. I’ve lived in 3 different homes over the past 2 years so I’ve been able to test out a few microwaves. ;)

Step 3 – Add Activated charcoal to the melted soap base
Once the chunks are completely melted, add 1 Tbsp of Activated charcoal powder.

Then stir it into the melted soap base until it is fully mixed in.

Step 4 – Add essential oil to the melted soap base
If you want to add a scent you can add 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil and then stir it into the soap mixture. I like to use Tea tree oil when making soap because it has natural antibacterial qualities.
Step 5 – Pour the soap into the molds
Next, pour the melted soap into the Silicone soap mold. If the bubbles bother you, spraying some rubbing alcohol on them usually does the trick. I made these for myself so I didn’t really care with this batch.
Each batch filled 4 of the soap molds so if you use the same soap base and mold as me you’ll get ~8 bars out of it.

Step 6 – Allow the soap to cure then remove from the mold
Let the bars sit for at least 2 hours before removing them from the silicone mold.
That’s it! In just a few hours you can make your own easy DIY activated charcoal soap bars. I’ve been using these for a few months and really enjoy them.

I added a picture of the soap bar after use so that you can see how well it suds. Not only does it lather well but each bar lasts a long time. Unlike many of the store bought soap bars, a single homemade soap bar usually lasts 3-4x longer.

I hope that you enjoy your handmade soaps as much as I do!
